The Town Square Test

On 20/09/2009, in Thoughts, by Bram

Just came across an old notebook of mine and read the Town square testW written by Nathan SharanskyW:

If a person cannot walk into the middle of the town square and express his or her views without fear of arrest, imprisonment or physical harm, then that person is living in a fear society, not a free society.

We cannot rest until every person living in a ‘fear society’ has finally won their freedom.

Made me wonder if I am living in a free society or a fear society. I would like to believe I am living in a free society but looking at what’s been going on in the past years under the guise of terrorism protection and such, I am not sure. Maybe we are becoming a fear society?
